The Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts is proudly unveiling its newly restructured diagnostic medical sonography program.

San Mateo, CA (PRWEB) February 13, 2008 – The Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts, a private medical vocation institution, is unveiling its new and improved sonography program. The program provides select individuals with the technical, clinical and interpersonal skills necessary to succeed within the challenging field of sonography.

With an upgraded, state-of-the-art scan laboratory, students now have the rare opportunity to increase their skills from one of eight ultrasound systems, including the cutting edge MedSim Ultrasound Simulator. This ultrasound system is used during instructional scanning sessions before entering the clinical setting. All classrooms and libraries are equipped with modern audio-visual teaching aids, textbooks, journals, and anatomical charts and models that enhance the quality of education received.

A recently reduced classroom size allows for one-on-one, hands-on training by exceptionally knowledgeable instructors. Flexible didactic and laboratory schedules allow students the freedom to fine-tune their daily agenda through day and evening classes. Abundant lab instruction provides a whopping 650 hours for students, 550 hours above the competitor’s standard. The ultrasound laboratory is open for its students and graduates six days per week, approximately 14 hours per day. The accessibility of the lab accommodates those with even the most compromising schedule.

Clinical education allows students to put their didactic knowledge to practical use. Meticulous clinical training for students is provided through internships at distinguished hospitals and outpatient imaging facilities located throughout Northern California. Students will now have the unique opportunity to incorporate high-risk obstetrics and train in an acute care setting such as an ER, ICU or CCU.

In addition to providing a thorough and comprehensive curriculum, the Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts provides graduate support for those who have successfully completed the ultrasound program. Job placement opportunities are presented to recent graduates through numerous employment searches performed by the Academy. Graduates also have access to the ultrasound lab where they can maintain their scanning techniques.

As a leading provider of health care education, the Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts serves communities by maintaining high standards of health care training. By providing a supportive learning environment, graduates are instilled with the confidence, skill, and experience for success in the healthcare industry.
